ASCENSION LORENTE HUGUET (b. Spain) is a contemporary artist based in UK. Huguet has exhibited in Spain, the United Kingdom, Philadelphia, Suriname, Piran. Amsterdam, France, Thailand as part of the Uncooked Culture World Wide Outsider Art Project. Her work has been exhibited at the Museum of Almeria in Spain (2014), selected at the 78th Exhibition of The National Society of Painters, Sculptors & Printmakers exhibited at the Menier Gallery in London (2011), selected Art & Escape Award at the Art & Escape Gallery in Hertfordshire (2010).
Ascension’s work is featured at the Red Door New York Online Magazine, issued N.10 published in 2011. HUGUET is the author & creative designer of The Labyrinth Journal & Artist in Residence to the Journeys through the Labyrinth at the University of Kent during her Graduate Internship in 2010. Artist in Residence at Little Blue Hut at Tankerton Slopes in Whitstable selected by the Creative Canterbury Council in 2011.
Live performance & video include "Pixels of Identity" Art Expo exhibiting “The Human Animal’ at the Museum of Almeria in Spain in 2014. Included in the Whitsthable Biennale of Contemporary Art at The Satellite Programme in 2012 and included “The Minotaur Woman” in the category of Street Live Performance as part of the Whisthable Biennale of Contemporary Art in 2010.
Previous solo exhibitions include “A Retrospective” (The Fishlab Gallery in Whitsthable in 2012). A Nocturnal Succubus at Keynes Gallery at University of Kent in Canterbury in 2012. The Art’s Labyrinth at the Boxroom Gallery in Folkestone in 2011 and Journeys through the Labyrinth at Crossover Gallery in Canterbury, Kent in 2011.Her paintings have been exhibited in REadyText Art Gallery in Suriname (2014), West Bank Gallery in London (2014), Amsterdam Outsider Art Gallery (2013), Studio B in Boyertown, PA in Philadelphia, (2012), Sangdee Gallery, Chiangmai, Thailand (2012), Chateu Corbin in Liverdum in France (2012), Menier Gallery in London (2011), Horsebridge Gallery in Whitsthable (2011), BHVU Gallery in London, Winter Open Exhibition (2010), Arts & Escape Gallery in Hertfordshire (2010), Canterbury Festival (2007). She combines her art practice with part time teaching and is highly involved in community work.
